The Chateau des Dames or the ‘Ladies Chateau’ was frequented by the two greatest female figures of the French Renaissance. Built for Catherine de Medicis, wife of the king and mother of 3 subsequent kings, it was also the property of Diane de Poitiers, the most famous of the royal mistresses.
Its astonishing architecture which incorporates a bridge spanning the Loire River makes it a world-renowned building and an example of great sophistication.
