Day 1 : The start of your journey Lyon - Ouches

Your gastronomic journey begins in the Loire department, in the Roannais territory for Maison Trois Gros. Live by train from Paris, arrive in Lyon where your helicopter will welcome you for the start of this adventure... It is Roannais territory in the department of the Loire that you find the legendary Maison Troisgros.

In a verdant setting bordering a Roannais vineyard you discover a cuisine with an amazing history that goes back 50 years with three Michelin stars. It’s a generational thing. From the grandparents to the current incumbents Jean and Pierre who have brought a touch of modernity and a new kitchen. Their salmon and sorrel is their signature dish and in time the baton will be passed on to Michel, the third generation who is currently working elsewhere.

There is also César who is the fourth generation and already working with his father to take over. 

Your dinner at TroisGros

The kitchen blends into the surrounding nature. For instance, the dining room is designed around a hundred-year-old oak tree and located between fields of grass and undergrowth. During the day, the rural landscapes come to your table and in the evening, the lights seem to offer even more space with soberly decorated tables announcing an authentic cuisine that is without frills. 

From generation to generation, TroisGros dishes have always kept the same consistency, simplicity and flavors while not being averse to reinvention. César and his brother Leo are the fourth generation and they are looking at new sources for inspiration.

To the acidity is added spice : the Hispanic world and Italian influences lead to amazing fusion dishes. And to end your dinner in style, do not hesitate to visit the kitchens. They are huge with large windows overlooking natural landscape... it’s a world of its own. 

The uncharted Loire region

Castles, churches, historic villages, green landscapes and local gastronomy, the Loire and Roannais are still little known regions but with beautiful sites to discover.

The nature is such that it is home to many hiking trails, horseback riding and cycling, along trout streams or lakes where you can also indulge in fishing. On the golden slopes you can admire the magnificent sunny panoramas or even go along the canal from Roanne to Digoin. In Roanne a must-see is the Abbey of Charlieu (tenth century) and the Bénisson Dieu (twelfth century).
